About Us

The Coalition for Lending Reform, a non-profit corporation, was originally founded in 1999 as the Coalition for Mortgage Reform.  The Coalition was created to assist borrowers who believed they were victims of predatory lending and to educate consumers, legislators and regulators about harmful practices in the mortgage industry.

Over the past decade, the Coalition has assisted thousands of consumers and uncovered numerous cases of lenders engaging in fraud and corruption against borrowers.  As a result of the Coalition’s diligent investigations in cooperation with regulators and private law firms, we have been instrumental in the recovery and return of more than $125 million dollars to consumers.

As harmful practices have become common place in other areas of consumer credit, we have broadened our scope to encompass all forms of lending.  Our staff includes experts in mortgage lending, real estate, consumer credit issues, and forensic examination of loan documents.  The Coalition is a true consumer advocate. We are in no way subsidized by any creditors or lending institutions.  We empower the consumer through knowledge, education, and counseling.
